Description:

A glass filtration column is a device used for purifying and enhancing the flavor and aroma of potable water and liquor. The essential component for this process is activated carbon, which effectively absorbs various unwanted impurities and odors. This product, the BROWIN model 405541, comes as a complete set that includes an alcohol meter with a safe plastic test tube, a 1.6 m silicon hose, and a pack of activated coconut charcoal (460 g).

  • A set for carbon filtration of distillate - enables adjusting and moderating the flavor of spirits without leaving any yeasty aftertaste.
  • Ready to use - complete with an alcohol meter featuring a safe plastic test tube, a 2-meter long silicon hose, and a pack of activated coconut charcoal (460 g).
  • Features a convenient foot - the column is equipped with a foot that allows it to be securely placed on a flat surface.
  • Can be used with stills or on its own - the device can be connected to a still or used independently.
  • Made of strong glass - constructed from robust and highly durable technical glass.
  • 350 ml capacity - you can store 350 ml of activated carbon in the column at one time.

The filtration column is made of durable and strong technical glass, providing better resistance to damage compared to traditional materials. It features a stable foot for secure placement on a flat surface and can hold 350 mL of activated carbon. Included in the set is an alcohol meter with a plastic test tube for accurate measurement of alcohol content in colorless liquor that does not contain sugar, measuring between 0% to 95% alcohol content. The 2-meter flexible silicon hose has a diameter of 7/9 mm and is heat-resistant, maintaining elasticity between -55 to +180°C. The hose can be easily cut to create two hoses for inflow and outflow. Additionally, the package includes activated coconut charcoal (460 g), an efficient absorbent that harmonizes the flavor and aroma of water and spirits.

Column specifications:

  • Material: durable technical glass
  • Two stub pipes with a diameter of 8 mm, designed for silicon hoses
  • Foot/base for stable placement
  • Pipe diameter: 4 cm
  • Filter height: 45 cm
  • Total height with base: 46 cm
  • Capacity: 350 mL of activated carbon

NOTE! For optimal results, it is recommended to cool the liquid to about 10 °C before filtration. For the best filtration experience, maintain a continuous flow rate of about 1 L per hour, ensuring that the liquid passes through the carbon from the bottom upwards, enhancing the filter bed’s efficiency. To prevent any potential contamination from the carbon into the filtered liquid, place the output hose on a funnel lined with a paper towel or use a steel scourer to block the column at the outlet stub pipe after adding the charcoal.

How to use:

  1. Measure and cut the correct length of the silicon hoses for the upper and lower stub pipes, then attach them securely.
  2. Fill the filter with activated carbon up to 1-2 cm below the upper transfer stub pipe.
  3. Pour the liquid intended for filtration into the column until it reaches about 3/4 of its height.
  4. Unlock the clamp on the lower hose to start the flow of liquid. When the liquid reaches the top, quickly place the hose into the container.
  5. Adjust the flow rate using the clamp.
  6. Place the transfer hose from the upper stub pipe into a container for the filtered liquid.

To avoid contamination, place the output hose on a funnel lined with a paper towel.

CAUTION!

Every country has its own legal regulations regarding the manufacture and distribution of ethyl alcohol, wine products, and spirits.
